How results are ordered: alphabetically by institution, or by most recently checked when you choose that sort. There is no price ranking, because tuition in different currencies, fee categories and bases (per year, per credit, whole program) is not comparable. A program appears under a subject only through a verified link (dedicated degree, major, concentration or documented pathway). A value we could not verify is shown as “not published”, never as “no”. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change verification or order. Online programs are not counted as physically located in a state or city, and an institution’s location does not tell you whether it enrols students from your country.

About music education in Switzerland

How music education is organised

Professional music study in Switzerland takes place mainly at music universities of applied sciences and arts (for example in Zurich, Bern, Lucerne, Basel, Geneva, Lausanne and Lugano) that award Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees, plus university musicology institutes. Teaching languages follow the region (German, French or Italian) and many master's programmes also name English. Entry is through programme-specific entrance or aptitude examinations with fixed annual application deadlines.

Qualification structures

Names and levels are local to Switzerland. Similar names in other countries are not interchangeable.

Bachelor and master degrees
Programme pages describe bachelor's programmes of 6 semesters (180 ECTS) and master's programmes of 4 semesters (120 ECTS); some institutions state that the music bachelor is a generalist degree and professional qualification follows at master level. Source
Cooperation model of the Swiss music universities
The Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana states that its bachelor and master are independent degree programmes under Swiss cooperation in accordance with the KMHS (Konferenz Musikhochschulen Schweiz) cooperation model. Source

Bodies that matter, and what each one does

Accreditation, validation, education authority and qualification registers are different roles. Do not read a listing by one body as evidence from another.

Programme pages state credits in ECTS credits; no equivalence with other national systems is claimed here.
